Limited Warranty

Residential Sectional Garage Doors

SKAZ Residential Garage Doors ("SKAZ," "we," or "us") warrants its residential sectional garage doors and components to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use, subject to the terms, conditions, and exclusions set out in this document. This warranty applies to garage doors sold and installed in Canada through SKAZ authorized dealers.

All coverage periods run from the date of original installation.

Who Is Covered

This warranty is extended to the original purchaser of the garage door, beginning on the date of original installation as shown on the sales invoice or installation record. The warranty remains with the property and is transferable to a subsequent owner of the residence, provided SKAZ is notified in writing of the change in ownership within 60 days of the property transfer. A transfer does not extend or renew the original warranty period. Proof of purchase is required for any warranty claim - please keep your invoice or installation record in a safe place.

What Is Covered

Steel Door Sections - 10 Years. Warranted for 10 years against defects in materials and workmanship, including delamination (separation of the steel facing from the insulated core) and rust-through of the steel skin under normal residential use and exposure.

Hardware - 6 Years. Structural hardware supplied by SKAZ with the door - including hinges, rollers, tracks, lift cables, and drums - is warranted for 6 years against defects in materials and workmanship.

Springs - 3 Years. Torsion and extension springs supplied by SKAZ are warranted for 3 years against defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use.

What Is Not Covered

This warranty does not cover:

1. Normal wear and tear, or minor cosmetic blemishes such as small surface scratches that do not affect the structural performance of the door.
2. Fading, chalking, or gradual colour change of the paint finish caused by sunlight and weathering over time - this is a natural characteristic of painted steel and is not a manufacturing defect.
3. Rust or corrosion caused by exposure to corrosive environments (coastal, high-salt, high-humidity, or industrial areas) beyond normal atmospheric conditions, or caused by failure to maintain and touch up the finish as recommended.
4. Damage resulting from improper installation, adjustment, or repair performed by anyone other than a SKAZ authorized dealer, or from unauthorized alterations to the door or hardware.
5. Damage caused by accidents, impact (including vehicle contact), misuse, abuse, vandalism, or acts of nature such as wind beyond the door's rated pressure, hail, fire, or flood.
6. Damage caused by lack of routine maintenance, including failure to lubricate rollers, hinges, and springs, or failure to keep tracks clean, aligned, and free of obstruction.
7. Spring failure caused by cycling beyond normal residential use, unauthorized tension adjustment, or improper sizing or installation.
8. Doors installed in commercial, industrial, institutional, or rental-fleet applications, unless specifically sold and rated by SKAZ for that use.
9. Freight and transportation damage, which must be noted and claimed with the carrier at the time of delivery.
10. Garage door openers and related powered accessories - SKAZ does not manufacture or sell garage door openers, and none are covered under this warranty.
11. Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind, including but not limited to loss of use, property damage, or costs of removal and reinstallation.

Parts, Labour & Freight

This warranty covers replacement parts only. At SKAZ's discretion, a defective part will be repaired or replaced with a new or comparable part. Labor to remove and install a replacement part, and any freight or shipping charges to deliver it, are the responsibility of the installing dealer or homeowner unless otherwise agreed in writing by SKAZ.

How to Make a Warranty Claim

1. Contact the SKAZ authorized dealer who sold and installed your door. If AA Advantage Doors installed your door, call us at 519-619-7901. Most issues can be resolved directly through your dealer.
2. If your dealer is unavailable, contact SKAZ directly at info@skaz.ca or +1 (519) 808-8154.
3. Provide your proof of purchase (invoice or order number), the date of installation, the door model or style, and a description of the issue with photos where possible.
4. SKAZ will review the claim and, if approved, arrange for the defective part to be repaired or replaced under the terms of this warranty.

Remedy & Limitation of Liability

SKAZ's sole obligation under this warranty is, at its discretion, to repair or replace a part found to be defective in materials or workmanship within the applicable warranty period. This warranty is in place of all other warranties, express or implied, to the extent permitted by law, and SKAZ is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from a defect or from the repair or replacement of a part. Some provinces do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so this limitation may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary by province.

Governing Law

This warranty is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein.
