Products & Suppliers
What manufacturers do you deal with? +
We have partnerships with several garage door manufacturers, distributors, suppliers and dealers. Our main distributor is SKAZ, based in London, ON. Secondary options include Safe-Way, GDS Door, Amarr, Clopay, CHI and Garaga - giving us access to hundreds of garage door options for every budget.
Where is SKAZ based? +
SKAZ's distribution centre is based right here in London, Ontario - which means faster lead times and better availability for our customers.
Can I repaint my garage door? +
Yes, you can repaint your garage door if necessary. Painting instructions vary by door material. Please contact us and we'll provide the appropriate guidelines for your specific door model.
Warranty
Do you offer a warranty? +
Yes. AA Advantage Doors offers a 4-year warranty on all labour and workmanship - far above the industry standard of 3–12 months. Garage door sections generally carry a 6-year warranty, with springs at 3 years. Opener warranty varies by model - please visit Chamberlain or Skylink for detailed information.
Are warranties transferrable? +
No. Our warranties are non-transferable and extend only to the original purchaser who entered into the sales agreement with our company. Warranty coverage aligns with the original owner who made the purchase.
What voids the labour warranty? +
The labour warranty is void if damage results from: (1) lack of routine maintenance (at least once every 2 years) that clearly resulted in damage to the door, or (2) normal wear and tear within a reasonable amount of time under normal use, such as broken cables, broken springs, or other parts that cause damage to the door.
Maintenance & Care
What maintenance do you recommend for garage doors? +
We recommend: lubricating all moving parts (hinges, end bearing plates) with a multi-purpose lubricant and coating torsion springs with regular grade machine oil; checking for loose or missing fasteners; inspecting moving parts for wear (end bearings, rollers, hinges, cables); checking track support for loose parts; checking ease of operation; verifying the door seals against jambs, header and floor; confirming all safety labels are in place; and cleaning the door exterior with soap and water (no pressure washer or harsh chemicals).
How often should I lubricate my door? +
1 to 2 times per year is sufficient. Most multi-purpose spray lubricants will work. Do not use WD-40 or any grease.
How often should I lubricate my opener? +
Once every 1–2 years, or at the first sign of squeaking. For belt drive openers, use low-temperature lithium grease on the belt near the sprocket and on the long rail. For chain openers, grease only the long rail. Spraying anti-rust on the chain periodically can help prevent corrosion in humid garages.
How do I know if my garage door is balanced? +
Disconnect the opener, then lift the door by hand. An average adult should be able to open it fully with one hand. The door should remain open in the middle position and stay open when fully raised. If it doesn't, the spring tension needs adjustment by a trained professional. An imbalanced door will prematurely wear out your opener.
Lifespan & Durability
How long do garage doors last? +
An insulated garage door typically lasts 20–25 years depending on maintenance. Non-insulated doors last approximately 17–22 years.
How long do garage door openers last? +
Under average use, most garage door openers last around 20 years. The two primary factors that affect longevity are frequency of use and garage door balance. A poorly balanced door stresses the opener unnecessarily and causes it to fail prematurely.
Can I replace just one damaged section? +
Yes - you can replace one or more sections without replacing the entire door. However, each manufacturer makes unique sections that are not interchangeable. Step 1 is to find the sticker on the inside of your door with the make and model. Then contact us for further assistance.

Do you do high lift conversions? +
Yes. We convert garages with tall ceilings to high lift so the open door sits higher and further out of the way, which is popular for car lifts, taller vehicles and overhead storage. Try our high lift calculator to work out the track height, extension length, drum size and cable length for your own garage, then send us the numbers for a firm quote.
